With COVID-19 refusing to lurk away, these are not the most amusing of times. But these beer ads, all ranked highest for humor by a leading analytics firm, still made us laugh…
Here’s the deal…
Ace Metrix is an advertising analytics company based in El Segundo, CA. The company screens and scores video advertising based on a survey method which measures an advertisement’s creative impact including that of persuasion, watchability and emotional factors.
And over the past 10 years the company has polled consumers about more than 1,700 beer ads from brands around the world. According to beer drinkers—defined by Ace Metrix as consumers over 21 who drank at least one beer in the 30 days before being surveyed—these are the funniest beer ads from recent years.
Bud Light, “Vendor” (2017)
Ranked as the 2017’s most hilarious beer ad, according to Ace Metrix analysis, Bud Light’s 45-second “Vendor” spot was developed by Wieden+Kennedy.
Tecate Light, “The Boldest Six Pack” (2019)
Created by Mexican ad agency Nomades, Tecate Light’s light-hearted 30-second commercial, features two beer-bellied men manning a barbecue and vying for the attention of a beautiful woman.
Michelob Ultra, “Jimmy Works Out” (2020)
Michelob Ultra’s amusing commercial, which debuted at Super Bowl LIV features Jimmy Fallon as he warms to working out, thanks to the country’s fastest growing beer brand.
The humorous 60-second spot showcases the late night TV host in full-on workout mode as he learns that fitness can in fact be fun along with professional wrestler and actor John Cena, athletes like Usain Bolt, Brooks Koepka, Kerri Walsh Jennings and Brooke Sweat and friends like The Roots.
