With Memorial Day now in the rear view mirror, summer is ON! And American craft brewers are addressing the season with intriguing new offerings you’re gonna want to have on hand.

Straw-Buried (Baltimore, MD) – Heavy Seas Beer has a new 15 Barrel Brewhouse release that they did with freshly-picked strawberries  from Weber’s Cider Mill Farm, a cornerstone in Maryland’s agricultural community.

Featuring whimsical artwork by Baltimore graphic designer, Chris Shiner, and only available at the brewery taproom, Heavy Seas Strawberry Shortcake Ale is a 6.5% ABV limited release that’s rich, fruit-forward and velvety smooth.

“When presented with the opportunity to work with Weber’s on a beer, we immediately knew we wanted their amazing strawberries to showcase in a beer,” said Heavy Seas Brewmaster Christopher Leonard. ”We incorporated their fresh picked berries, lactose, a touch of vanilla, English yeast, some oats and yes – shortcake in the mash – to create this bright, summery, treat.

5 Years In (Venice, CA) – The Propagator, Firestone Walker’s experimental small-batch brewing facility in SoCal, is celebrating its 5th anniversary, with a juice-bomb you’ll want to chase down. Firestone Propagator Series Gen-5 Double IPA is a massive 8.3% ABV Hazy India Pale Ale with bright tropical citrus notes and Sauvignon Blanc-like flavors from “down under.”

Building on the DNA of The Propagator’s house IPA Gen-1, Gen-5 incorporates a double dry-hop of Nelson Sauvin, Nectaron, and Riwaka hops from New Zealand in addition to the Citra and Mosaic featured in Gen-1.

Brewers then pumped up the overall hop profile and octane to Double IPA levels, adding malted oats for a silky texture. To finish things off, Firestone Walker fermented Gen-5 with its special Juice yeast strain which contributes to Gen-5’s hazy appearance and juicy flavor profile.

Crisp and effervescent with a blast of lime and spicy ginger kick, Left Hand Moscow Mule 5.5% ABV ginger and lime Pale Ale with oats added to create its smooth texture and Lemondrop hops for a pop of citrus zing.
