, Free Online Beer Biz News Site Adopts Paywall Model

With its revenue impacted by COVID-19, Brewbound, one of the nation’s leading online beer industry news sites, will soon be adopting a paid subscription model…

Here’s the deal…

On July 29 Brewbound, which has been free since it launched in 2014, announced that it will be joining its competitors Beer Business Daily and Beer Marketer’s Insights and adopting a subscription model.

A beer-focused spinoff Of BevNet.Inc, a beverage-oriented Business to Business media company with an extensive web presence and print magazine, Brewbound has up until now been able to offer its first-rate industry coverage primarily through advertising, paid events and conferences…All of which were impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Founded by John Craven in 1996, BevNet also runs Nosh, which covers the health food industry. And both of those B2B operations already run on the paid subscription model which Brewbound will soon be transitioning to.

“These have been difficult times. Full transparency: Our events series made up a significant portion of our own revenue and companies who previously were involved in advertising have hit the pause button.”

“We know you have had to adapt quickly during the pandemic, and we have to do the same at Brewbound.”

“This is the pivot we’re able to make. It’s certainly not something to take lightly,” Craven told Forbes. “It’s at a point of necessity.”

Beginning in mid-August, Brewbound’s new subscription service will cost $375 per year, with tiered options for multiple users and discounted opportunities for early adopters…
