The new beer was borne from Dogfish Head President Sam Calagione’s bull sessions with his friends. As the story goes, they usually catch up over pints of 60 minute, but one time, Sam bucked the trend and embraced sacrilege: He ordered a glass of red wine. But, Sam being Sam, he didn’t merely drink the vino. He saw an opportunity for brilliant alchemy and poured a little of the wine into each pint of 60 Minute. The blend of fruity complexity and pungent hoppiness has been such a hit amongst Sam and his buddies that he’s now decided to bottle it and bring it to the masses.
We can’t tell you how it tastes because we haven’t received a batch for sampling (Hint, hint, Dogfish Head), but Sixty-One, which clocks in at 6.5% ABV, will hit stores in March and you can try it for yourself then.
