New Beer Alert: Dogfish Head Craft Brewery’s Fall Lineup

Dogfish Head has been doing things differently for a long time. They’re a defining craft brewery that plays by its own rules.
Founded by Sam Calagione in coastal Delaware in 1995, Dogfish Head helped define the more adventurous side of American craft brewing with its “off-centered ales for off-centered people.” And while the brewery became famous for boundary-pushing beers like 60 Minute IPA, 90 Minute IPA and World Wide Stout, it was also way ahead of the pumpkin beer curve.
And with summer winding down and fall beer season officially underway, Dogfish Head is returning to one of its longtime autumn favorites while introducing a seasonal variety pack built for cooler nights.
Punkin Ale Returns (Milton, DE) – First brewed in 1994, even before Dogfish Head officially opened its brewery, Punkin Ale is one of the craft beer industry’s earliest pumpkin beers and remains a fall fixture more than three decades later.
A full-bodied 7% ABV Brown Ale brewed with real pumpkins, brown sugar and baking spices, Punkin Ale delivers a rich mix of pumpkin, caramel and warming spice without abandoning its beer roots.
Punkin Ale is available nationwide on draft and in 6-packs of 12oz cans. It also anchors Dogfish Head’s new fall seasonal variety pack.
Pass The Aux Variety Pack – Dogfish Head has always had a thing for music, and its new Pass the Aux 12-pack brings together four very different beers in one very Dogfish Head fall lineup.
Along with the return of its fan-favorite Punkin Ale, the 12-pack includes three cans each of three Dogfish classics that have been on the bench for a while now.
Favorite Sweater is a 6.5% ABV American IPA that combines rustic pine and bright citrus hop notes with bready Munich and caramel malts. It’s an IPA dressed for sweater weather and it’s right on time.
Indian Brown Ale is a welcome return from Dogfish Head’s past. The 7.2% ABV hybrid crosses elements of Scotch Ale, IPA and American Brown Ale, with aromatic barley and organic brown sugar delivering coffee, caramel and dark bread flavors beneath a sturdy dose of hops.
And rounding out the pack is Namaste, Dogfish Head’s 4.8% ABV Belgian-style Witbier brewed with dried orange slices, fresh-cut lemongrass, peppercorns and coriander. It’s bright, citrusy and considerably lighter than its fall companions, but just as welcome.
Part of Dogfish Head’s rotating Season-ALES series, this year’s release also sports new packaging artwork from Dylan Goldberger, a Brooklyn-based artist known for his highly detailed, woodcut illustrations and cartoon-style anthropomorphized animals that add a wonderfully oft-centered touch to the fall package.
