This tasty recipe comes from the Oskar Blues Brewery in Longmont, Colorado and it uses the brewery’s iconic Dale’s Pale Ale, an assertive yet balanced 6.5% ABV American Pale Ale and the first canned craft beer in the nation.
This easy Beer Can Chicken Recipe guarantees moist meat that falls off the bone and spicy-crisp, ultra flavorful skin.
So let’s do this!
Dale’s Pale Ale Beer Can Chicken
Ingredients
1 fresh chicken (2-3lbs)
1/4 cup chicken spice rub
1/2 12oz can of Dale’s Pale Ale
Directions
Step 1
Get your gas grill up to medium-high (about 375-400 degrees)
Step 2
Trim some from-under fat off the bottom of the chicken (helps prevent flare-ups)
Step 3
Dirty up that bird, inside and out, with your spice rub
Step 4
Drink half of the Dale’s Pale then insert the remaining 1/2 full can of into the chicken’s cavity and stand it upright on the grill
Step 5
Cook for 45 minutes to 1 hour, checking periodically for flare-ups until the internal temp reaches 165
Step 6
Gently lift chicken off the beer can, wiggling the chicken back and forth to prevent it from sticking. Cut chicken into pieces and serve immediately.
