Festive foods take on new meaning when made with serious beer. And who doesn’t enjoy a hot fudge sundae, especially when it’s dark fudge topping is made with the right barrel-aged stout?
This recipe from Founders Brewing and it uses their KBS Hazelnut Fudge, the brewery’s new 12% ABV KBS barrel-aged stout variation, with rich aromas of roasted coffee, hazelnut, and fudge, balanced with vanilla and bourbon notes.
And in the world of artisan deserts beer parings, it doesn’t get much better than a rich hot fudge sundae chocolate paired with the serious Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout that is currently available February through March wherever Founders beers are sold.
So let’s do this!
Founders KBS Hazelnut Fudge Stout Hot Fudge Sundae
Ingredients:
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
6 tbs granulated sugar
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup Founders KBS Hazelnut Fudge Stout
3 tbs cocoa powder
pinch of salt
2 tbs butter
1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:
In a medium saucepan set over medium heat, combine the chocolate, sugar, heavy cream, KBS Hazelnut Fudge, cocoa powder, and salt together until the chocolate is melted.
Stirring occasionally, allow the mixture to come to a boil. Boil for 3 minutes.
Remove from heat and add the butter and vanilla.
Use immediately on ice cream, ads nuts, whipped cream, go crazy!
Pair your sundae with a short glass of KBS.
To store, keep in refrigerator for up to 1 week.
