There are beer festivals, and then there are beer festivals that scream ROAD TRIP, and San Diego’s Capital of Craft Beer Fest is certainly one of those. We’ve that, “Words to Drink By” and more.

The Capital of Craft Beer Fest Returns

There are beer festivals, and then there are beer festivals that scream ROAD TRIP, and San Diego’s Capital of Craft Beer Fest falls squarely into that category.

For decades, San Diego has been one of the driving forces behind the American craft beer movement. While cities like Portland, Denver and Asheville have all earned legendary beer reputations, San Diego carved out its own identity with the bold, hop-forward West Coast IPAs that helped define modern American brewing.

That heritage will be on full display this weekend when the San Diego Brewers Guild teams up with 91X for the return of the Capital of Craft Beer Fest on Saturday, September 19 at Broadway Pier along San Diego’s scenic waterfront.

More than 65 locally brewed craft beers will be available for unlimited sampling, with participating breweries pouring a wide range of styles that showcase just how much the local beer scene has evolved beyond its IPA roots.

One of this year’s highlights is the debut of the People’s Choice Hoppy Beer Award. Festival attendees will sample a variety of hop-forward beers before casting their votes to crown their favorite, adding a little friendly competition among some of the city’s best breweries.

And as with the best beer festivals, this event isn’t just about what’s in the glass. Local food vendors, artists and craft makers will be on hand, along with live music from hometown favorites Agent 51 and 80s Resurrection presented by Dead Man’s Party.

The festival also gives back. A portion of every ticket sold supports the San Diego Brewers Guild, the nonprofit organization that promotes and advocates for the region’s independent brewing community.

General admission tickets are $50 and include unlimited samples from more than 65 local beers. VIP admission is $70 and includes early entry, exclusive beer pours and additional festival perks.

Words to Drink By

“I figured that if I said it enough, I would convince the world that I really was the greatest.” – Muhammad Ali, regarded as the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time

Two NFL Quarterbacks Team Up With Athletic Brewing

Athletic Brewing Company, America’s largest dedicated non-alcoholic brewer, has announced multi-year partnerships with star quarterbacks Drake Maye (New England Patriots) and Dak Prescott (Dallas Cowboys).

Through their respective agreements, Maye and Prescott have each joined Athletic Brewing as athlete-owners and will appear in dedicated marketing campaigns for the increasingly popular NA beer brand.

The first spots will run across social media as part of the company’s new “Athletic Fits” campaign.

Maye’s campaign transforms a routine throwing session into an unexpected football tailgate. As the star QB  passes to an off-camera receiver, fans lounge just feet away in lawn chairs with an assortment of Athletic’s NA beers, humorously calling out what sound like football observations that repeatedly distract a bemused Maye.

Prescott brings the same self-aware humor to  his spot this time set at a backyard cookout. The accomplished NFL veteran appears to command everyone’s attention as he casually tosses a football nearby. But actually nobody’s watching him. They’re all about the beer.

“Athletic’s growth story and challenger mindset immediately stood out to me,” said Maye. “The company started with an idea that many people doubted, stayed committed to its vision. Becoming an athlete-owner gives me an opportunity to learn from that journey and begin building my own understanding of business and entrepreneurship.”

“As I’ve become more involved in business, I’ve become increasingly intentional about the opportunities I pursue and the people I choose to work with,” said Prescott. “I really admire what Bill and John have built and their willingness to challenge conventional thinking.”

Both agreements mark Athletic’s continued investment in professional football, soccer, baseball, lacrosse, hockey, college athletics, endurance events, outdoor sports, and live music.
