In spite of the more than 7500 craft breweries currently online in the US, we continue to receive new announcements almost daily.
And here’s just some of what’s happening around the country…
Dssolvr Renovates Historic Asheville Building
Dssolvr, a brewery with down-the-road plans to also create wine and mead, is completely overhauling an historic 5,500 space, for what will become a designer industrial production facility and tasting room in Asheville, North Carolina according to the Citizen Times.
Founded by Vince Tursi, former head of brewing operations at Burial Beer Co. and former head brewer at Lord Hobo Brewing Company in Massachusetts, along with design guru Mike Semenac, Dssolvr (pronounced “dissolver) will feature a 15 barrel brewhouse and three-barrel pilot system and fermenters ranging from 3-30 barrels, allowing for plenty of experimentation.
The now under construction Dssolvr is literally being reconstructed from the ground up. Once completed nearly half of the unit will be devoted to a taproom with Viking length tables perfect for the sessionable brews and English-style cask beers that will be just some of the brewing directions that Tursi intends to explore.
Dssolvr’s new home in the Tyler Building, was constructed in the 1920s and the neighborhood is experiencing a rebirth of sorts thanks to brewers and entrepreneurs such as Tursi and Semenac, and they won’t be alone. The Fireman Capital Partners funded CANarchy Craft Brew Collective, will also be opening The CANarchy Collaboratory, a block and a half away from Dssolvr.
The Canarchy Collaboratory
The CANarchy Collective, now home to seven craft breweries, including Oskar Blues Brewery, Cigar City Brewing, Perrin Brewing Company, Squatters Craft Beers, Wasatch Brewery, Deep Ellum Brewing Company and Three Weavers Brewing Company, has announced plans to open a new collaboration brewpub and restaurant dedicated to the art of collaborations in Asheville.
The CANarchy Collaboratory, which will take over a space currently occupied Lexington Avenue Brewery, will specialize in cutting-edge brewing methods and creating limited-edition, small-batch collaboration beers with leading craft breweries both in Asheville and throughout the country.
Overseen by Cigar City brewing wunderkind Wayne Wambles, The CANarchy Collaboratory will also feature projects between top chefs, artists and musicians across the Asheville community.
