With over 100 million albums sold worldwide, Iron Maiden is considered one of the most successful heavy metal bands in history, having played over 2,000 live shows internationally over a career spanning more than four decades. But the band (and particularly lead singer Bruce Dickinson) has also been building a beer empire and now are working with BrewDog USA on a new collaboration brewed in Columbus, Ohio.

Dickinson is a brewer and serious about his beer. In 2013 He personally designed and developed Trooper, a collaboration between Iron Maiden and Robinsons Brewery that went on to become an international success.

That beer led to many serious brewing projects, all crafted at Robinsons Brewery in the UK, including the amped up Trooper 666 with its 6.66% ABV and 2017’s Hallowed a 6% ABV Belgian Ale that took its name from the song Hallowed Be They Name, which first appeared on the band’s bestselling 1982 album The Number of the Beast.

The majority of the Iron Maiden beers are available as imports in the US, but the band hasn’t worked with an American producer until now.

, BrewDog And Iron Maiden Unleash New US BeerOn May 10, the Scotland-headquartered global brewer announced that it had teamed up with the legendary band and would be launching a new Iron Maiden beer, brewed at BrewDog’s US facility, near Columbus, Ohio.

Iron Maiden and BrewDog’s Hellcat is described by the brewery this way…

“A feisty 6% ABV India Pale Lager where hops and malts collide, Hellcat rages with a citrus-forward flavor. The result is a hazy-gold IPL with an epically complex balance of malts and hops. As with all BrewDog beers, Hellcat is carbon negative and BrewDog removes double the CO2 it takes to make.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with a world-renowned rock band like Iron Maiden,” said James Watt, CEO and Co-Founder of BrewDog. “Iron Maiden, like BrewDog, have maintained their spirit of independence throughout their stellar career. Hellcat is a hop-forward lager with a golden hazy appearance and crisp finish—an epic beer worthy of this massive collaboration.”

And Bruce Dickenson, who served as a Craft Brewers Conference keynote speaker in Denver, 2019, is also a BrewDog fan…

“I’ve been looking for the perfect partner with whom to bring a fresh, exciting beer to the US. I’ve long been an admirer of BrewDog, not just because of their beers, but also of their attitude and style. When I met the BrewDog team, we discovered the respect is mutual, and that we could make an undeniably unique beer together.”

Brewed and exclusively available in the USA, Hellcat, which joins the global Trooper family of beers, will be available for purchase online and at select distributors and retailers across the country, starting fall 2021.
