Big Beer And Craft Breweries Aid Hurricane Florence Victims

|September 15th, 2018|

Anheuser Busch, MillerCoors and a number of craft breweries have stepped up to provide water for  storm victims of Hurricane Florence in the coastal Carolina regions.

Here’s the deal…

Anheuser-Busch has sent six truckloads – more than 300,000 cans – of emergency canned drinking water to local communities in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia as the states address the ongoing impact of Hurricane Florence.

The delivery is in response to requests from local wholesalers and the American Red Cross to help prepare communities threatened by storm disruptions that come with a hurricane of this scale.

The emergency drinking water was canned at Anheuser-Busch’s Cartersville, Georgia, brewery and shipped to its wholesale partners who will then distribute it to the American Red Cross, South Carolina National Guard and other local groups at the storm’s front lines.

Anheuser-Busch has a longstanding tradition of providing emergency drinking water and supplies for disaster relief efforts. Since 1988, Anheuser-Busch and their wholesaler partners have provided more than 79 million cans of water to U.S. communities affected by natural disasters nationwide.

But Anheuser-Busch’s isn’t the only brewery lending a hand….

MillerCoors sent 200,000 cans of water into the region last week and Charlotte, North Carolina’s Blue Blaze Brewing announced via twitter that they had water available for storm victims as well.

Durham’s Fullsteam Brewing and Wilmington’s Wrightsville Beach Brewery began donating water and ice earlier this week.

In partnership with Oskar Blues Brewery and Ball Corporation, the Can’d Aid Foundation sent 22 pallets of water into the region. And the initial 52,800 cans of fresh drinking water arrived just hours before the storm made landfall.

Oskar Blues Brewery will again shut down its brewing operations in Longmont, Colorado, next week to can additional water to support ongoing relief efforts

And we expect to hear even more stories of the brewing industry lending support to the region in a number of ways as they did during Hurricane Harvey.
