Thanksgiving signals the start of the winter holidays and Black Friday is a celebration of stouts. And American craft brewers are addressing both with a variety of new offerings that should pair smartly with just about everything festive.

Lakefront Brewery’s 2019 Black Friday Release (Milwaukee, WI) – Although the tradition of special Black Friday Beer releases has been largely credited to Goose Island’s annual Bourbon County releases, there’s another brewery just north of Chicago that has also become known for a defining stout and Barleywine series that they’ll debut on November 29th.

For the past 8 years, Lakefront Brewery’s Black Friday beer release has grown its own rabid following that now attracts beer pilgrims from all around the world. And this year Lakefront Brewery is releasing four unique limited edition Black Friday beers…Every one of them sure to become bottle-share ‘hotties’ and bigtime collectable.

This year’s lineup includes Black Friday, a 13.25% ABV Imperial Stout aged in bourbon barrels; Rye Barrel-Aged Black Friday, a 14% ABV monster aged in rye barrels for 2½ years; Rum Barrel-Aged Fruit Cake Black Friday, a 13% ABV Strong Ale aged in rum barrels; and its 14.85% Barleywine Black Friday.

In spite of its name, Ale Industries Winter Warmer isn’t stylistically a winter warmer at all. It’s actually an 8% ABV hop-forward Imperial Red Ale with subtle toffee and maple notes and a pleasant spicy-bitter finish.

Belgian Dark Chocolate (Binghamton, NY) – Galaxy Brewing Company will be releasing something pitch black and MASSIVE on Black Friday. Galaxy Ghost of Christmas is a 9.8% ABV dark Belgian Strong Ale brewed with chocolate, orange peel, cinnamon, raisins, honey and a little bit of ghost peppers to keep things spirited.
