Best Halloween Promotions: Free Voodoo Ranger Beer If Your Name Is Michael Myers

Voodoo Ranger has never been a particularly subtle beer brand.
New Belgium Brewing introduced the skull-faced Ranger in 2017, and what began as an IPA brand has grown into one of craft beer’s biggest franchises, fueled by increasingly irreverent advertising, unusual promotions and a seemingly endless stream of high-octane IPA variations.
Voodoo Ranger has also ventured beyond beer and into pop culture, which brings us to its latest Halloween promotion.
And then there’s Michael Myers.
For anyone unfamiliar with the name, Michael Myers is the masked killer who first appeared in John Carpenter’s 1978 horror classic Halloween. The largely silent character went on to become one of the most recognizable villains in movie history, appearing across a franchise that now spans more than four decades.
Unfortunately, Michael Myers is also the perfectly innocent legal name of actual people who have presumably spent much of their lives explaining that yes, they know who the other Michael Myers is.
And with Halloween approaching, Voodoo Ranger wants to find them.
The New Belgium brand has launched its Slasher Manhunt, a nationwide search for people 21 and older who can prove their legal name is Michael Myers. And those unfortunate enough to have spent their lives sharing a name with a masked serial killer can now finally cash in on it.
Eligible Michael Myerses can enter online through October 7, and no beer purchase is necessary. You do, however, have to be 21 or older, live in the US and be able to prove that Michael Myers is actually your legal name.
Those who make the cut have a chance to win enough cash to cover a year’s supply of Voodoo Ranger beer, along with a copy of Halloween: The Game. Select winners will be announced on October 19, which appropriately enough is Michael Myers’ birthday.
The promotion also ties into Voodoo Ranger Slasher IPA, a 7.5% ABV limited release created in partnership with Halloween: The Game. The beer is available exclusively in the brand’s limited-edition Hoppy Pack, which Voodoo Ranger says has become its fastest-selling Hoppy Pack of 2026.
And just like Michael Myers, this promotion is almost unstoppable.
On October 7, the Slasher Manhunt moves to New York City.
Voodoo Ranger will host a Party Without Fear at Ray’s on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, where real-life Michael Myerses can show a valid ID and claim a special reward. The event will also feature Slasher IPA, demos of Halloween: The Game and giveaways.
It’s shamelessly seasonal, totally Voodoo Ranger and just strange enough to get our attention.
And somewhere in America, there’s another Michael Myers ready to step out of the shadows.
