Garage Beer has never taken beer marketing too seriously. And that’s increasingly become the point.
The light lager brand got a major jolt in 2024 when NFL brothers Travis and Jason Kelce came aboard as investors, co-owners and operators. Since then, the Kelces, especially Jason, have become an important part of Garage Beer’s intentionally ridiculous marketing universe.
The brand has teamed up with The Predator, parodied cheesy local lawyer commercials with its “Attorney at Lager” promotion and even put Jason Kelce in a Super Bowl ad that involved horse manure. Subtle it is not.
But Garage Beer’s goofy, nostalgic approach has helped distinguish the independent brand in a light beer category dominated by some of the biggest advertisers in the world.
And now Garage Beer is taking that playbook to the parking lot with some brilliant beer swag.
Garage Beer has teamed up with Kingsford charcoal for “Terrors of the Tailgate,” a Halloween-inspired promotion that turns some of football’s most familiar game-day characters into limited-edition collectible trading cards.
Inspired by the monster collectibles and over-the-top sports marketing of the 1990s, the campaign imagines the American tailgate as a strange place where ordinary football fans transform into something considerably more frightening.

Leading the collection is Garage Beer co-owner Jason Kelce as the “King of the Tailgate,” a role that probably didn’t require a whole lot of acting.
He’s joined by the “Table Smasher,” a tribute to those fans who believe folding furniture exists to be destroyed, along with the “Face Paint Fanatic,” the “Cooler Raider” and the “Parking Lot Prophet,” that guy who spends three hours confidently predicting what’s about to happen and is almost always wrong.
Kingsford gets its own monster, “The Flamekeeper,” who controls the grill, the meat and, according to Garage Beer, the entire tailgate vibe.
The six-card collection also comes to life in a video campaign starring Kelce, who leads the hunt for the various Terrors across Garage Beer’s social channels.
It’s ridiculous, nostalgic and completely unnecessary.
Which is exactly why it feels so Garage Beer.Top of Form
