Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne teams up with Dogfish Head for Record Store Day beer
Although it’s still early spring, summer has definitely arrived at beer retail…So welcome to our latest weekend Beer Run because things are definitely warming up.
Serious Record Store Day Beers – April 21st is Record Store Day a gathering of independent record store owners and employees that was launched back in 2008 to celebrate the unique culture surrounding the thousands of independently owned record stores in the US a s well as abroad. And since music and beer are almost siblings, breweries like Dogfish Head and Cincinnati’s Rhinegeist craft special beers to celebrate a fun day!
Dogfish Head’s ‘Record Store Day’ Beer (Milton, DE) – Every year Dogfish Head brews the ‘official beer’ for Record Store Day. And this year they partnered with Wayne Coyne and Flaming Lips and crafted Dogfish Head Dragons & YumYums, a 6.5% ABV Psychedelic Pale Ale brewed with a combination of dragonfruit, (yep that’s a thing), yumberry (that too), passionfruit, pear juice and black carrot juice.
Rhinegeist Brewery’s ‘Record Store Day’ Beer & Party (Cincinnati, OH) – For the fourth year running, Rhinegeist has teamed up Shake It Records to celebrate Record Store Day. The festivities will kick off at 8am on 4/21 at Shake It with 500+ limited Record Store Day releases, plus the first tapping of Rhinegeist Slow Jam IPA, a dank/citrusy/piney 6.5% ABV uber-limited edition India Pale Ale that’s made to pair perfectly with music.
Caught Packing (St Louis, MO) – Schlafly Beer has returned a summer favorite in an even BIGGER format. As aggressively hopped as this style can handle Schlafly Hoppy Wheat is a 5% ABV Wheat Ale that’s bulked up this season and now available in 12-packs of 16oz cans.
