The Devil Is In The Details (San Carlos, CA) – Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company has become the first craft brewery in Northern California to utilize carbon capture technology to reduce its CO2 emissions. Larger craft breweries such as Sierra Nevada have equipment in place that can recover CO2, a natural waste product of beer fermentation. But up until recently this technology has proved too costly for the average craft brewer., Beer News: Lakefront Brewery Raises Funds For Australian Brushfire Relief And More

Now Devil’s Canyon Brewing has partnered with Earthly Labs to use a plug-and-play carbon capture technology called CiCi, which can enable smaller craft breweries to capture up to 100,000 pounds of CO2 a year and reuse it to carbonate and package beer.

According to Earthly Labs, half of all CO2 emissions come from small sources in businesses, buildings, and homes, representing an untapped opportunity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. And with a growing number of craft breweries across the nation committing to sustainability wherever they can, this new technology is a possible game-changer.
