Japanese Breakfast and Goose Island Beer Collaborate For Pitchfork Festival

Japanese Breakfast, the indie pop solo project of singer-songwriter Michelle Zauner, and Goose Island have collaborated on a special persimmon-infused lager that will be available at Pitchfork Music Festival, which takes place at Chicago’s Union Park from July 15-17.

“Persimmons have been the main visual motif for our record Jubilee, so it felt fitting to incorporate the fruit in our Goose Island brew at Pitchfork Music Festival,” Zauner said. “I am excited to finally share the collaboration at the festival this year.

According to Pitchfork, “the beer will be available at Pitchfork Music Festival and the Goose Island Fulton Taproom while supplies last. Proceeds from the Be Sweet Lager will benefit Heart of Dinner, which combats food insecurity within New York’s elderly Asian American community.”

The plant, Heineken’s seventh in the country, will bring around 120 direct jobs after opening and around 150 during the construction phase, the Amsterdam-headquartered multinational brewers said in a press release.

As almost everywhere, Heineken said it had seen increased demand for cans in the country. Around 40% of beer in Mexico is currently canned but that number is rapidly growing.
