Controversial Osama Bin Lager spurs viral meltdown in the UK. Weve that, “Words to Drink By” and more.
Consumers Willing To Pay More For “Earth-Friendly” Beer
According to a global survey by Pall Corporation, beer consumers are willing to pay more for beer in bars and supermarkets, if it helps to ease the planet’s global warming crisis.
A recent survey, conducted on behalf of the water and waste reduction company, found that almost half of 3,500 respondents across seven countries said they would choose a more expensive, but sustainably-produced beer over a less expensive rival.
According to the Drinks Business, “respondents said they would be prepared to pay up to 30% more for a ‘greener’ pint produced in a way that reduces waste and water and energy consumption.”
“Consumers are considering the environmental impact when deciding which beer to purchase,” said Pall Corporation beer market manager Roland Pahl-Dobrick, “and understand that reducing waste, water and energy are vital for more sustainable brewing.”

Osama Bin Lager Goes Viral
A UK brewer found itself embroiled in an international controversy when a picture of its Osama Bin Lager was posted on twitter which led to the beer selling out immediately and a viral meltdown that crashed Mitchell Brewing’s website.
“We’ve woken up the last couple of mornings with thousands and thousands and thousands of notifications,” Luke Mitchell, owner of the Mitchell Brewing Co in Billinghay, Lincolnshire, told the BBC of the insane demand. “The phone just hasn’t stopped for the last 48 hours.”
Part of the brewery’s Dictator Series which also includes Kim Jong Ale and Putin’s Porter, the controversially- named Osama Bin Lager’s tap artwork features a cartoonish caricature of the notorious Al Qaeda leader, who was responsible for the 9/11 attack and killed by Navy Seals in 2011.
