We get that these kinds of rankings are borderline clickbait, but that doesn’t mean they’re not fun.
Here’s the deal…
A young-end financial site, Simple Thrifty Living recently amassed data about beer prices across the United States. And they created a map below revealing the difference in the price of a case of beer in every state that’s kinda fun…
As is common with these kinds of rankings the methodology is somewhat generic.
To create the ranking, the site assembled the prices national or regional retailers in up to 10 zip codes in each state for a 24-pack of Bud Light and Miller Lite. The zip codes reflected a mix of urban and rural areas in each state.
Then they averaged the prices of the two beers together and rounded things off to the nearest cent excluding taxes and any additional charges like recycling fees.
Got it?
So on to the good and bad news (depending on where you live) about what a case of beer costs in your state…
It’s all good if you live in Illinois and you’re a fan of Bud Light and/or Miller Lite…A case of beer there is only going to cost you $15.20…the cheapest in the county.
Rounding out the top 5 for 2019 is South Carolina ($15.32), New York ($15.98), Rhode Island ($15.98), and Kansas and Michigan (both at $16.07).
The most expensive case of beer in America can be found in Alaska ($31.20), followed by Wyoming ($26.68), Hawaii ($22.39), Montana ($22.28), and Tennessee ($22.25).
And we strongly suggest that check out the full list below before you relocate…
