Melvin Brewing Enlists The Aid Of An Industry Legend (Alpine, WY) – Besieged by a storm of controversy surrounding a sexual-misconduct allegation in Bellingham, Washington and the company’s purported ‘bad-boy’ culture, Melvin Brewing is still being boycotted by some in the craft beer community. And now Forbes is reporting that New Belgium’s former Brewmaster Peter Bouckaert is lending his support to the fast growing organization and has joined the board of Melvin Brewing,
Satisfied with the corrections that the award-winning brewery has put in place in the aftermath of the incident, Bouckaert, an industry icon who basically was the first craft brewer to champion sour wild blends in America, retired from New Belgium last year to open Purpose Brewing and Cellars in Ft. Collins.

New Brewery Taproom Tax In Pennsylvania (Harrisburg, PA) – According to the Philly Voice, the new state tax which specifically targets brewery taprooms and breweries that sell beer from their premises is set to begin on January 1 2019.
The new law would impose a tax of 6 percent on every retail dollar generated at a brewery taproom in Pennsylvania and would, for example, add 42 cents to the cost of a $7 craft beer.
