With Memorial Day now well behind us, summer is officially ON and American craft brewers are addressing things with a smart roster of new releases you’re gonna want to have around.
A Cut Up (Hershey, PA) – Tröegs Independent Brewing has a new release that joins the brewery’s rotating Once-a-Year Series, a special line of offerings that includes iconic beers like Mad Elf, Nugget Nectar, and Nimble Giant.
A nod to the second hop procedure where farmers trim back the extra hop shoots to bolster the harvest, Tröegs Second Cut Mango Double IPA is a hefty 8.5% ABV India Pale Ale with a silky smooth hop profile and fresh mango notes that linger.
“We’re always searching for new flavors to showcase in our seasonal beers,” explains Tröegs co-founding brother and brewmaster John Trogner. “Over the years, First Cut has become a cult classic, so we thought we’d create something bigger and bolder for those fans.”
Cosmic (Chico, CA) – Sierra Nevada Brewing has a new addition to the brewery’s innovation streams dubbed the ‘Limited Hazy Series that is even more ‘cosmic’ than its three predecessors. inspired by the prominent use of space-themed hops including Comet, Strata, and Helios, Sierra Nevada Cosmic Litle Thing is an 8% ABV Hazy IPA that shoots for the stars and delivers.
“As innovation brewers we’re always exploring different hop flavor combinations and looking for new ways to excite engaged beer fans, even when we’re working within existing beer styles,” says James Conery, Innovation Brewmaster at Sierra Nevada.
“The Hazy IPA style is particularly exciting for craft beer fans right now, and it’s also exciting for us because there’s room for our creativity and exploration mindset to thrive. That comes through in the new beers we’re crafting, and Cosmic Little Thing is a great example of that.”
Ghostfish Brews With Deschutes (Seattle, WA) – Ghostfish Brewing, a gluten-free brewery that’s driven to push the boundaries of craft beer, has a new collaboration brew that they did with Bend, OR-based Deschutes. Double dry-hopped with a blend of Exp 1019, Amarillo and Mosaic, Ghostfish Hoppin’ around the Bend is a 5.i% ABV gluten-free West Coast Pilsner, with big peach rings, citrus and pine aromatics, balanced with a light bitterness and a mild malt character.
“We have the utmost respect for Deschutes,” said Ghostfish Co-Founder/Co-Owner Brian Thiel. “Not only are they an iconic Pacific Northwest-based brewery, but they continue to be innovative and important in the ever-changing craft beer scene. They have been brewing and serving their own gluten-free beer inside their pubs for as long as we’ve been in existence.”
