Beer Alert: New San Diego-Style India Pale Ales And More

April is ON and American craft brewers are welcoming the warmer weather with a fun roster of new IPAs that you’re gonna want to have around.

The Quintessential San Diego-Style IPA (San Diego, CA) –  Two legends of the San Diego brewing scene, Karl Strauss and Pizza Port Brewing have returned a fan-favorite collaboration that’s been on the bench for far too long.

Released as part of KARL’s 2025 Ridiculously Limited Release Series, with part of the proceeds benefiting Restaurants Care, a nonprofit fund that supports California restaurant workers facing unexpected hardships, Karl Strauss + Pizza Port Nectaron of the Gods is a 6.8% ABV India Pale Ale that was crafted  with a smart mix of Nectaron and Elani hops.

First released in 2023, this quintessential San Diego-style IPA is now available on draft and in four packs of 16 oz. cans across California, Arizona, and Nevada, as well as at all nine Karl Strauss brewpubs in Southern California and six Pizza Port brewpubs in San Diego County.

Bigger, Hazier, Juicier (Chico, CA) – Sierra Nevada Brewing is relaunching a classic that was first introduced in 2021, with a bigger, hazier and juicier profile.

Crafted with a smart mix of Citra, Mosaic and El Dorado hops Sierra Nevada’s re-envisioned Big Little Thing IPA is a 9.5% ABV Hazy India Pale Ale that builds upon everything that was great about original, amps up the octane and softens the mouthfeel.

“We experimented with several Hazy Imperial IPA recipes, but when I tried this one, I was truly impressed,” said Brian Grossman, Chief Brewer and second-generation owner of Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.

“It’s packed with flavor and has a smooth, pillowy texture at 9.5% ABV, without being overly sweet. It’s a great option for Hazy IPA lovers looking to take their experience to a different level.”
