Beer Alert: New Grapefruit Radlers And Award-Winning Golden Ales

Summer is ON and brewers are adressing things with an interesting roster of beers that pair brilliantly with the season.

100% Natural (White Plains, NY) – Paulaner USA has an interesting summer variation on the Radler, a half-beer, half-fruit soda blend that was invented by a German innkeeper, Franz Kugler back in the roaring 20’s, as a refreshment that catered to sports cyclists.

The popularity of the Radler (also called a Shandy in the US) spread throughout Europe and has grown its own rabid following here in the states. Many think that German brewers craft the best Radlers and Paulaner USA’s uber-gracious 16.9 oz offering is one of the best we’ve tried.

Natural, fruity, but thankfully not to sweet, Paulaner Grapefruit Radler is a 2.5% ABV refresher composed of 50% Münchner Lager, an uber-smooth lager that’s delicious to begin with, and 50% all natural grapefruit juice.

A Three-Time World Beer Cup Winner (Durango, CO) – Having recently returned from the World Beer Cup awards which were held in Philadelphia this year, we are highlighting beers that took home awards this year and Ska Brewing’s first-ever beer was once again a big winner.

Crafted with locally sourced honey which adds a welcome sweetness to the brew, Ska True Blonde is a 5.3% ABV Golden Ale, which dates back to the brewery’s beginnings in 1995, once again won a gold medal in the English-Style Pale Ale category at the 2026 World Beer Cup Awards.

“This one means a lot,” says Dave Thibodeau, Co-Founder of Ska Brewing. “True Blonde was where it all started for us. It was the first beer we ever brewed, and to see it win World Beer Cup gold 31 years later is incredibly rewarding. It says something about the quality of the beer, the consistency of our brewing team, and the staying power of a beer that has been part of Ska since the very beginning.”

True Blonde’s latest honor joins five Great American Beer Festival medals, three L.A. International Beer Competition awards, a European Beer Star, and an  Australian International Beer Awards medal.
