It’s late winter and craft breweries are addressing the season with a variety of intoxicating cold-weather offerings…And we’ve five new craft beer directions that you might want to chase down.
Blissful Drinking (Longmont, CO) – Oskar Blues Brewery just announced its new Can-O-Bliss (get it?) IPA Series, a fresh new line of rotating India Pale Ales. First in the series is Can-O-Bliss Tropical IPA, a 7.2% ABV sunset-hued rogue wave of tropical fruit flavors that is brewed with complex Mosaic, citrusy Azacca, fruity Galaxy, aromatic El Dorado and pungent Idaho 7 hops.
Experimental Plays (Boulder, CO) – Upslope Brewing has announced its latest iteration of a popular experimental ale released annually. Originally part of the brewery’s Limited Release Series that has now become a year-round, Upslope 2019 Experimental India Pale Ale is a 6.5% ABV IPA that is brewed this year with Cashmere, Loral and Cascade hops.
Fathered In (Pacific City OR) – Pelican Brewing is returning the 2019 version of barrel-aged ale that took home three awards in 2018, including Gold at the Australian International Beer Awards, and Silvers at both the Brussels Beer Challenge and Oregon Beer Awards. The most prized player from the brewery’s exceptional Barrel-Aged Series, Pelican Father of All Tsunamis Stout 2019 is an 11.2% Imperial Stout that was aged to perfection Rye whiskey barrels.
It’s Official! (Comstock, MI) – In February Bells Brewery will “officially” be stepping into the Hazy/Juicy/ New England IPA arena with a beer that was inspired by 2017’s limited release, Titania and later by Larry’s Latest IPA. Double dry-hopped with a combination of Mosaic, Citra, Azacca, Amarillo and El Dorado hops and proudly unfiltered, Bell’s Official is a 6.4% ABV Hazy IPA with a juicy ambience, a dry finish and balanced bitterness.
Seeing Red (Hood River, OR) The pFriem Family Brewers craft a great series of Flanders-Style Ales including one that pays homage to the Burgundy ales of Belgium. Pouring deep amber with hints of brown and topped with lacey white foam, pFriem Flanders Red is a complex 7% ABV Red Ale with bright notes of fresh cherries, leather, pinot noir, and sour apple.
