Fall’s coming and American craft brewers are marking summer’s swift passage with a smart roster of beers that will not disappoint.
A Buzz-Free Oktoberfest That Nails It (Boston, MA) – Samuel Adams is getting an early jump on fall with a new twist on one of its most popular seasonal beers. For the first time, the Boston brewery has released a non-alcoholic version of its classic Octoberfest, giving drinkers a way to get into the lederhosen-and-pretzel spirit without the alcohol. Like any great NA beer Samuel Adams Non-Alcoholic Octoberfest mirrors the original, with the smooth body, toasted malt character and rich caramel notes that have helped make Octoberfest one of the brewery’s most recognizable seasonal releases.
And the timing makes sense.
Non-alcoholic beer continues to expand well beyond the traditional January reset, with breweries increasingly treating NA releases as year-round beers rather than temporary substitutes. Samuel Adams already plays in the category with Just the Haze IPA, but bringing Octoberfest into the mix feels a little more adventurous. Oktoberfest beers are all about malt, body and balance, qualities that can be difficult to reproduce without alcohol, but Sam Adams absolutely nails it.
