From the nation’s coolest beer events to movies, music and cutting edge TV – we’ve got your back big-time. Plus we’ve another weekend beer pick for you as well, because we know you’ll be drinking.

Friday the 13^th Cask Celebration (Philadelphia, PA) – The Grey Lodge is again hosting their annual Friday the Firkinteenth “cask-fest” in northeast Philadelphia and it’s absolutely the best way to celebrate your Friday the 13^th! Considered by many to be one of the city’s best craft beer event this year’s cask-forward throwdown will feature 26 special firkins for your drinking pleasure. As always the day session runs from noon to 6pm; and the night session from 6pm to midnight. So much fun!

On The Big Screen – Director Peter Berg returns to current events in Patriots Day this weekend as he takes on the 2013 terrorist Boston Marathon bombing that killed three people, injured hundreds and brought a city to its knees. Once again teaming up with Mark Wahlberg who Berg directed in Lone Survivor and in Deepwater Horizon, this historical account was penned by Ed Davis, Boston’s Police Commissioner at that time.

Fight Cabin Fever This Weekend (Maplewood, MO) – Schlafly Brewing can help you counter that brutal seasonal condition this Saturday, January the 14^th at their Bottleworks facility out in Maplewood. Cabin Fever commemorates the brewery’s 15 years in action and they’ll be celebrating things with over 40+ winter seasonals guaranteed to melt away those pesky winter blues!

TV Time – Hey we get that recommending a BBC style historical biography about the early reign of Queen Elizabeth II on a beer site may be a wasted effort, but this award-winning Netflix series is just too damn good not to mention. Cinematically spectacular, The Crown is an ambitious project at the very least and projected to unfold over six seasons and 60 episodes. Whether you’ve the interest or commitment make that kind of commitment to this kind of subject is totally understandable – but this is without a doubt, some of the year’s best television and you need to give it a try.

With the weather looking more seasonal we’ll be hitting up a seasonal from Highland Brewing this weekend. Brewed with six distinct hops and a set of six nearby mountains, Highland Southern Sixer IPA is the newest addition to the brewery’s 2017 lineup and a bright 6% ABV hop-forward pleaser.
