AB, AB InBev To Import Several ‘Crafty’ Beers Into The US

Brewing giant AB InBev has received approval to import and distribute some of its international craft beer brands in the US.

Here’s the deal…

The Drinks Business is reporting that the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) has granted permission for world’s largest brewing company to introduce a number of its non-US beer brands to the American market later this year.

They include beers from…

  • Camden Town Brewery in the UK
  • Cervejaria Colorado in Brazil
  • Artesanas de Malta y Cebada in Mexico
  • Newlands Spring Brewing of South Africa
  • Archibald Microbrewery of Canada
  • Belle-Vue Brouwerij of Belgium

According to the TTB filing’s the beers will all be imported in kegs with the exception the Archibald of Canada brews will also be packaged in pints.

AB, AB InBev To Import Several ‘Crafty’ Beers Into The USAnd Peter Frost at the excellent Behind the Beer reports that “the company plans to pour each at an ABI-sponsored craft beer and music festival this fall in New York.”

At this time it’s not clear if Anheuser-Busch InBev has any plans to distribute and sell the beers in the US beyond the brewery-sponsored festival in October but we can’t help but think that they’re using this upcoming festival to test the viability for these ‘crafty’ holdings in the states.

AB InBev’s newest boutique imports will join the Australia’s 4 Pines, Madrid, Spain-based Cervezas La Virgen, and the Mexico’s Bocanegra which have already received approval to be marketed in the US from the TTB.
