Sierra Nevada Brewing Pledges To Protect Our Winters

With snowfalls coming later and later each year, Sierra Nevada Brewing has committed to help save our winters from the dangers of climate change.
Here’s the deal…
On February 1, Chico, California-based Sierra Nevada Brewing announced a donation doubling drive benefiting their longtime nonprofit partner, Protect Our Winters (POW) a community of athletes, scientists, creatives, and business leaders advancing non-partisan policies that protect our world today and for future generations.
The donation drive is live now and will run to Feb. 22. Sierra Nevada has pledged to match donations up to $25,000 total.
No amount is too small to help Protect Our Winters advance non-partisan policies and outreach that protects outdoor places and the environment.
And just as with New Belgium Brewing’s recent effort that benefits POW, there’s also a special beer.

The donation drive aligns with the release of Sierra Nevada’s new limited-time beer, Powder Day IPA, a 7.7% ABV India Pale Ale which was named for its copious amount of lupulin powder—a substance found within hop cones that imparts intense hop flavors and aroma in beer.
And for those of you less familiar with skiing, “Powder Day” also refers to the light fluffy deep powder snow that sometimes fall in the mountains after an epic winter stormstorm, creating optimum conditions for skiers and snowboarders alike.
“We partner with Protect Our Winters to combine our love of the outdoors with climate action needed for a resilient future,” said Mandi McKay, Sierra Nevada Director of Sustainability and Social Responsibility. “POW’s mission inspires all of us to find common ground and protect the places we live and play.”
But that’s not all…
The donation drive will conclude with a special day of virtual events on “Powder Day,” Tuesday, Feb. 22, or 2/22/22 which even we can remember. Virtual events include free film screenings from athlete ambassadors of both Sierra Nevada and POW, as well as live Q&A sessions with the athletes.
