The beer biz never sleeps at American Craft Beer. And here’s just some of what’s been happening while you were enjoying the weekend…

Dogfish Inn Reopens  (Lewes, DE) –  A basecamp for beer lovers and adventure seekers alike, the Dogfish Inn in Lewes, Delaware, is NOW open and welcoming folks back to its canal-side campus with an emphasis on safety.

With all its rooms opening directly to the outdoors and two stairwells – one on either side of the building – to access the second-floor rooms, the Dogfish Inn naturally lends itself to social distancing. To further encourage social distancing onsite, the inn has limited access to its Cottage lobby, restricted the capacity of its outdoor communal area and rearranged all outdoor seating to allow for at least 6 feet between parties.

“Reopening our doors with these new policies and restrictions is necessary, but rest assured, we are committed to doing anything and everything we can to make your stay as awesome as ever,” said Dogfish Brewing and all-around good guy Sam Calagione. “Our motto is ‘Welcome to Lewes. Mother Nature, Let’s Do This.,’ so there’s no better way to embrace the current moment and return to a sense of normalcy than by exploring the great outdoors with a nice-cold beer in hand.”

Words To Drink By (Washington, DC) – “I have a great relationship with African Americans, as you possibly have heard. And they like me.” Donald Trump on Anderson Cooper 360

Another Fall Beer Festival Bites The Dust (Greeley, CO) – Established in 2015, WeldWerks Brewing Co. is an award-winning craft brewery located in Greeley, Colorado. In their first three years of operation WeldWerks generated international acclaim winning multiple medals at both the Great American Beer Festival and World Beer Cup as well as being named USA Today’s Best New Brewery in a 2016. And its WeldWerks Invitation grew into a destination event that drew brewers and fans from across the nation.

But on Friday WeldWerks Brewing announced that it has cancelled the WeldWerks Invitational which had been scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17 due to COVID-19 safety concerns.

“It was a heartbreaking decision to cancel,” says Kristin Popcheff, Director of Operations at WeldWerks…

It became apparent to us that even if it is safe to hold an event like this in October there would still be many necessary safety regulations in place. In our opinion, it’s not worth hosting an event that will be anything less than a world class experience.”

“Trying to drink beer through masks, out of disposable cups six feet away from fellow festival goers just isn’t the WeldWerks Invitational experience that we pride ourselves in providing.”
