6 Great Stouts For International Stout Day 2019

, 6 Great Stouts For International Stout Day 2019

As some of you may know (and frankly we’re a little of concerned if you do) somebody has designated November 7, International Stout Day. And although we’re not sure anyone needs another official “Drink Beer Day” we’ve some ‘killer’ suggestions…

Black Tuesday 2019 – Placentia, CA

Arguably The Bruery’s biggest annual release began just days ago and if you’re lucky enough to get your hands on this complex barrel-aged stout which is only available online or at the Bruery’s tasting rooms in DC or in California, you are in for a life changing stout experience.

This year’s vintage, the Bruery’s first ever to be released in cans, is yet again a monster, brimming with bourbon-soaked vanilla bean, raw cocoa nib, roasted malt, mocha, caramel sauce and black licorice notes and sporting a warm and spicy finish.

River North Nightmare Fuel & Barrel Aged Nightmare Fuel – Denver, CO

Released to coincide with Halloween, colder weather, and of course, International Stout Day, River North Brewery  has returned “the stuff of nightmares” in two variations.

An annual return that kicks off the brewery’s season of bigger and darker beers, River North Nightmare Fuel (11.9% ABV) and its bourbon tempered sibling, Barrel Aged Nightmare Fuel (12.9% ABV) are both eye-opening Coffee Stouts infused with three pounds per barrel of locally roasted expresso bean from Denver’s Logan House Coffee.

Guinness Over The Moon Milk Stout – Baltimore, MD

Based just 10 miles south of downtown Baltimore, Guinness Open Gate Brewery & Barrel House is doing exciting things. And while the majority of releases from the company’s first US brewery in more than 60 years have seen limited distribution, their latest is available nationwide.

A permanent addition to the company’s portfolio (so perfect for International Stout Day), Guinness Over The Moon Milk Stout is a 5.3% ABV lactose-fueled stout with nuanced hints of roasted malt, milk chocolate and rich coffee.

Firestone Walker Coconut Merlin Milk Stout – Paso Robles, CA

Whether they did it for International Stout Day or just to keep things fun, Firestone Walker’s recent fall seasonal takes the approachable stout tradition in a less likely direction.

Brewed with an infusion of freshly toasted coconuts, and a touch of cold weather sorcery, Firestone Walker Coconut Merlin is a 5.5% ABV Milk Stout with a creamy mouthfeel and a subtle sweetness in its finish.

Breckenridge Nitro Irish Stout – Littleton, CO

Any International Stout Day list that didn’t include a nitro-fueled variation would be missing one of this beer style’s most delicious directions. And along with Left Hand Brewing, Breckenridge brews one of the best!

Inspired (whether the brewery admits it or not), by Guinness’ world famous dry stout, Breckenridge 4.8% ABV Nitro Irish Stout gives the classic tradition a crafty Colorado touch that’s now  available all year round. So pour hard into a glass to unleash the beer’s nitro cascade and enjoy.
