San Francisco-based 21st Amendment Brewery is almost as famous for its playful label art as it is for its beers. And they have just given a new look of an old favorite: Fireside Chat Winter Ale.
For years the brewery has been releasing their popular 7.9% ABV Winter Spiced Ale in packaging that featured a cartoonish take on the original fireside chats, a series of evening radio addresses given by Franklin D. Roosevelt between 1933 and 1944.
21st Amendments artwork showed FDR in a holiday mood, sitting by a decorated fireplace, cigarette holder in mouth and beer in hand, having what looks to be a fireside chat with an elf.
But this year, the 32nd President (who signed the 21st Amendment to the US Constitution into law) has been benched in favor of two reindeer enjoying a Fireside Chat next to a crackling fireplace, with elves peeking through the windows.

“Fireside Chat is a beer we’ve been making every holiday season since we opened our pub in 2000,” said Nico Freccia, 21st Amendment COO and Co-Founder. “It’s the very first Great American Beer Festival medal we won back in 2001. So it was really fun to re-think the design and branding for this beer, really leaning into the holiday season with a sense of fun. While we play with the spices each year for just the right holiday flair, it’s still the best beer out there for your holiday table.”
“Fireside Chat has a wonderful warming amber color, bright toffee foam head, soft spice profile, and a rich chocolate layer on the finish that’s quite elegant,” added Shaun O’Sullivan, Co-Founder and Brewmaster at 21st Amendment Brewery. We made some slight tweaks to the recipe that I think our fans will enjoy.”
