COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION:

What We Are Jagged Mountain Craft Brewery is a brewery based out of Denver, Colorado. We're adventurous people, and we make adventurous beer. Who We Are - Randy Stinson manages the taproom. His enjoyment of good beer is equal only to his enjoyment of the outdoors. He loves hitting the slopes, and is an avid backpacker. - RJ Banat is the finance guy. He has traveled extensively, and has organized and led canyoneering, mountaineering, and backcountry adventures for over a decade and a half. Some of his photos are found on this website and on the walls of the brewery. - Wayne Burns is an accomplished professional brewer with over two decades of brewery setup, production, and management experience. Wayne has won six major awards for his beer, and is a renowned specialty beer expert. Wayne has worked for places such as Bell's, Mountain Sun / Vine St., and Kuhnhenn's. Outside of work, Wayne is an enthusiastic canyoneer, and can also be regularly found with sharp axes in his hand. "Wayne Burns...happens to be Michigan's big-beer king." (Michigan Breweries, Paul Ruschman and Maryanne Nasiatka) "Brewer Wayne Burns makes beautiful, big, bruising brews." (annarbor.com) "With his Solar Eclipse, Wayne reached Himalayan heights. It's an imperial stout that checks in at 21 percent ABV, putting him in a league with Samuel Adams' Utopias and Dogfish Head's World Wide Stout. In recent years, he also turned out an ultrastrong Grand Cru, an Amber Eisbock, and his most often quaffed big beer, Extreme IPA...But Wayne's smaller beers have gained a following as well." (Michigan Breweries, Paul Ruschman and Maryanne Nasiatka) Why We Are We've known each other for over a decade. During that time (when Wayne was brewing great beer for other people, and while all of us were finding our way out to Colorado), we've found ourselves relying on each other as maybe volleyball teammates one day, maybe mountaineering partners in South America another time, or maybe simply enjoying each other's company through other outdoor pursuits - backpacking, ice-climbing, canyoneering, whatever. We've literally had each other's lives in our hands. So, it's fair to say we have a deep appreciation for the outdoors, while also consistently pushing our own boundaries and limits. Likewise, when we decided to join together and start this brewery, it seemed really natural for us to utilize "High Octane" Wayne's skill-set and push the limits with our beer and with our brewery.
