Some people travel for the scenery and food. But we travel for beer.
And a recent study has ranked the best cities on the planet with the most affordable beer. Places where you can actually get a beer for less than a buck!
The study, which was actually about the costs of hosting a BBQ of all things, took int a count the cost of a bottle of beer as part of hosting that event. Magnet, a UK kitchen retailer, analyzed 190 cities using crowdsourced data from Numbeo (a cost of living index site) and came up with cost of a bottle of beer, in cities around the world, in 2024.
So yeah, hardly rocket science, but still, uber-affordable beer.
And here (drum roll please) are the 10 cities in the world where you can get a bottle of beer for less than a dollar.
Rank | City | Country | Price of a bottle of beer $ |

Taranto was the only Italian city to rank in the top 10, the next-ranking Italian city was Messina, a harbor city in the northeast of Sicily, which placed 51st.
But four German cities took second place for the world’s cheapest bottle of beer.
Wuppertal, Bochum, Bochum-Hordel, and Dresden are the world’s second-cheapest cities in the world to buy a beer, with all of these German cities charging just $0.93 for a beer. The most expensive German city was Berlin, where beer costs an average of $1.17 which is nothing to complain about either. In fact, an impressive 20 German cities made the top 50 cheapest cities for a bottle of beer. Germany has considerably low taxes on beer compared to other EU countries which is why so many cities can be found in the top 50.
Zaragoza, Spain was ranked as the third-cheapest city in the world for a bottle of beer, costing just $0.95. This price is over 2x cheaper than the most expensive Spanish city which was Cordoba with a price of $2.07.
