Following North America’s rapidly growing taste for weed-infused beer, the Stockton Brewery Company has come up with the UK’s first beer brewed with cannabis oil.

Stockton’s Buffalo Soldier is a 3.8% Blonde Ale that according to the Drinks Business contains traces of CBD oil a non-psychoactive (that’s no fun!) chemical compound found in cannabis.

The ale which is named after a Bob Marley song, for all the obvious reasons, has not yet been released but anticipation is “high” according to a brewery spokesperson.

Cannabis-laced ales are already gaining “bud-worthy” traction in the US drinks after a number of states relaxed their own laws around the drug but so far no American brewery has released a beer with psychoactive qualities…but you don’t have to be a genius to predict that it’s only a matter of time.

Chris Burggraeve, a former marketing director at Budweiser, has declared that “weed is the new craft beer.”

“The same way that craft beer started and, for the longest time, was ignored and then exploded, there’s no reason why the same thing wouldn’t happen in this space,” Burggraeve told Bloomberg in 2017. “There will be part supplementing and part complementing. The jury is out on how and where that will happen.”

But like robots eventually commanding the world and human cloning, commercial cannabis beers that actually gets you ‘high” high seems pretty damn inevitable in the near future.
