Stone, Stone Brewing Launches in China

If you’re a Top 10 craft brewery that’s hoping to show continued growth in 2018, you’d better be thinking about your export game, like Stone Brewing who’ve officially launched their beer brand in China!

Designed around an uninterrupted cold chain delivery system orchestrated at Stone’s home base in San Diego, Stone’s uber-fresh beer line will now be making its way to the world’s #1 beer market.

Up until now, the majority of American craft beer found in China has been mishandled by a grey market economy. These are beers that were shipped warm and are often long out-of-code…And to further complicate things, many of them have even had their “enjoy by” dates removed.

But now Stone beer is being regularly shipped to China via its cold, expedited supply chain. Their beer’s temperatures are being tracked throughout the entire shipping process, and ultimately arriving at China’s bars and restaurants as fresh as is humanly possible

Stone’s first shipment of fresh beer, which  landed in early October, was a big deal for the Escondido, California headquartered company who’d long strategized to get this chain delivery system right.

The Stone team celebrated the occasion with a series of events at which fans had the exclusive opportunity to sip the freshest Stone beers that China has ever seen alongside co-founders Greg Koch and Steve Wagner.

“I returned from China energized and blown away by the welcome we received,” said Greg Koch, Stone Brewing executive chairman & co-founder. “Our reputation had evidently preceded us, and I loved being there as our fans enjoyed the bold and complex aromas and flavors of über fresh Stone beers for the first time.”

Locations throughout China now stocking fresh, cold, Stone beers include:

  • Beijing: Liangshi Brewery, Dao Taproom
  • Shanghai: Daga Brewpub, The Cannery
  • Guangzhou: Tipsy Bar & Restaurant, Bravo, The South 12 Craft Beer Bar
  • Chengdu: Hugo Brewpub, Foam Ranger Taproom
  • Xi’an: Xian Brewery Taproom
  • Shenzhen: The Pub
  • Wuhan: Dazhimen Beer Restaurant, Commune

So it appears that the “slow boat to China” is in some ways a thing of the past at Stone Brewing and fresh craft beer more the future for the world’s #1 beer market.
