Russian River’s much anticipated $30 million brewery in Windsor California, moved one step closer to becoming a reality on Tuesday, when plans for the new 113,000-square-foot facility were approved by the city’s Planning Commission.

Construction on this much needed addition to Russian River’s original downtown Santa Rosa brewery, which the Press Democrat reports “attracts 300,000 visitors annually,” is scheduled to begin construction in mid-April. And assuming all goes well, the long-planned brewery is expected to open in the final quarter of 2018.

Designed as, and expected to become one of California’s a premier beer tourist destinations, the new Windsor facility will reportedly be larger than the Santa Rosa location, with room for 175 , Russian River’s New State-Of-The-Art Brewerypeople, and additional outside seating.

Situated on 15 acre plot on the west side of town, plans for Russian River’s new compound include a production facility and brewpub, a tasting room and gift shop. Plans also include an elevated walkway for brewery tours that follows the brewing process from the mash to the glass.

Once completed Russian River’s new production facility will enable the brewery to more than double its production overall and happily that just means more Piney the Younger for everybody.
