Yellow Peril! Counterfeit Chinese Budweiser (China, obviously) –  Our friends at the Drinks Business are reporting that there are all kinds of illegal brewing operations in China’s southern provinces cranking out bogus Budweiser in questionable settings and on the country’s continuing program to find them and shut them down.

Budweiser has downplayed the scale of one counterfeit beer operation that was busted in China’s southern Guangdong province, after a video showing shockingly unhygienic beer canning line at an underground factory went viral.

Fake Budweiser operations are abundant in that massive communist country and the southern Guangdong operation was reportedly churning out 60,000 crates of canned counterfeit Bud a month, before it was busted by local authorities.

Words To Drink By (Baltimore, MD) – “There is more stupidity than hydrogen in the universe…and it has a longer shelf life.”  Frank Zappa, American musician

And to ensure that that beer is always available and NEVER runs out, they have begun building a four-mile pipeline beneath its site to deliver free-flowing beer to the 75,000 thirsty metal heads expected to attend.

The Beer Pipeline is reportedly “capable of transporting 1,000 gallons of beer an hour from the five-century-old De Halve Maan brewery in the city to a nearby bottling factory on the outskirts of Bruges,” and will hopefully keep the tattooed masses reasonably sedated.

What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Portland, OR) – Last night we hit up a welcome new seasonal that we just received from Widmer Brothers and it was a perfect summer companion. Fruit-forward and citrusy, Widmer Brothers Drifter Pale is a bright 5.6% ABV Pale Ale, that’s pumped out of its mind on Nelson and Summit hops.
