Quick Hits – Fast Times At Boulevard Brewing, Brazilian Craft Beer And More!

The beer biz never sleeps at American Craft Beer. And here’s some more of what’s been happening in the beer world, while you were drinking yourself through the weekend.

beer, Quick Hits – Fast Times At Boulevard Brewing, Brazilian Craft Beer And More!Beer Is Huge In Brazil (South America) – With a tradition of brewing that dates back to German immigration in the early nineteenth century, it’s not all that surprising that Brazil is the world’s third largest beer market, or that craft brewers in that enormous South American country are now commanding international attention for their brewing skills.

Big Beer companies (like most everywhere) still command the lion’s share of the country’s massive beer market led by Bohemia, Brazil’s oldest beer brand which dates back to 1853 and is now owned by Anheuser–Busch InBev (who also control the majority of the nation’s brands including Brahma, Antarctica, and Skol).

But Big Beer sales have struggled in in Brazil since 2016 and one of the reasons for their decline is the emergence of a vibrant craft beer culture in the Portuguese speaking nation that is now winning awards around the world.

In spite of the fact that AB InBev still commands almost 70% of the country’s beer sales, Brazil is now home to more than 670 craft breweries, the most by far of any South American country!
