(Washington, DC) – Atlas Brew Works has just announced that it will offer beer in cans at select retailers and at its Ivy City facility beginning this Friday, December 19. This is welcome news for DC residents who, up to this point, were only able to purchase Atlas beers on draft and in kegs, growlers, and large-format bottles from the brewery.

Beer Battered ( Friendship, WI) – It was the 10th time that John Przybyla had been pulled over for drunk driving and the cops thought his story sounded fishy. According to crimefeed.com, the deputy who stopped him asked Przybyla how much he had to drink and he “denied drinking any alcohol and claimed he smelled like booze because he’d been at a fish fry eating beer-battered fish.”

The Year-End Distribution Dance Continues (Everywhere, USA) – Just when you thought the industry was taking a break for the holidays – things start heating up again! As we tipped you to last week, Brooklyn, New York’s Sixpoint Brewing has just begun distributing their cans to Portland, Oregon’s beer-crazed masses. And now Boulevard Brewing has announced that they will begin distributing their popular beers in Ohio in January. But that’s not all – Ballast Point will be partnering with Wirtz Beverage and bringing their portfolio into Wisconsin starting on January 1 of 2015., The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – December 17, 2014

What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Washington, DC) – We’d like to thank all of the American craft breweries who ship us beer from time to time. It’s great to be able to sample the brews that we write about and it helps us have a better feel for what’s happening out there. Yesterday, we wrapped up a long work day by tapping a new winter release sent to us by Boulder, Colorado-based Upslope Brewing. Upslope Foreign Style Stout is a 6.9% ABV brew that’s approachable and still drinks big!
