5 Amazing Things You Can Do With Leftover Beer

, 5 Amazing Things You Can Do With Leftover BeerBeer’s amazing in so many ways. In addition to tasting great and its ability to greatly enhance one’s mood, its benefits are seemingly endless. We recently chronicled beer’s health attributes in Beer Might Actually Be Good For You – Part I & Part II. But beer’s more than just your ticket to health – it’s also a lifestyle essential…

Who knew that beer is something you might want to have on hand for cosmetic reasons or that it’s helpful with pesky household problems?

In January, Yahoo compiled a list of interesting things that beer can be used for and here are some of our favorites…

Wash Your Hair – Next time you run out of shampoo, there’s no need to make an emergency pharmacy run. It turns out that beer mixed with distilled water and scented oil can leave your hair shiny and hydrated. Yep, hoppy hair is happy hair.

Control Backyard Pests – Looks like we’re not the only ones that enjoy a good beer on occasion. Backyard pests like insects and slugs are drawn to beer’s goodness as well. Leave a bowl of beer out in your backyard and those pesky yard dwellers will drink to excess and then the birds will have their way with the drunken creatures. We’re not yet sure as to how birds feel about beer.

Polish Your Pots – We’ve all done our share of polishing off beers in the past but how many of us have used beer to clean our pots and pans? Just soak your pots in beer overnight (we like copper ales) and they’ll polish up like new!

Loosen Rusty Bolts – Beer’s an effective antidote to all kinds of corrosion and can help you break free those bolts that are giving you problems. Just pour some beer on those rusty bolts (we find most Barleywines extremely effective) and let them soak overnight – and you’ll have no problem unscrewing them in the morning.

Take A Beer Bubble Bath – Just mix you favorite beer (we suggest Heady Topper) with some olive-oil based soap, light the candles, and hop in. Beer will smooth and soften your skin the longer you soak. We also suggest that you bring along a “sixer” of something serious to drink. Then you can soften your mood as you renew your skin.
