We recently collected the best drunk stories of 2017 and we’ll probably include this story in 2018’s collection…it’s that stupid.

According to Metro UK a drunk Norwegian man who was celebrating on New Year’s Eve in Copenhagen ordered a taxi ride home – a 372 mile, six hour journey from Denmark, through Sweden to his home in Oslo, Norway, where he refused to pay the driver before passing out in his bed.

According to the Drinks Business, the man had racked up a considerable bill of 18,000 Norwegian kroner, which is equivalent to £1,640 or $2224 in the states.

The clearly pissed off cab driver, (whose battery died while he waited for payment outside the drunk’s apartment) then called in the law who handled the drunken international incident with Harry Hole efficiency.

The Oslo police reported the incident on Twitter.

“A drunk man got in a taxi in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2017. He arrived in Abildso, Norway, in 2018. He left the taxi without paying. We found the man at home asleep in bed. He has now awake and has paid the fair.”
