Deschutes Brewing’s Gary Fish has announced that he is handing over the day-to-day reigns at the brewery he founded to Michael Lalonde who was “officially” promoted to CEO today.

According to the company’s press release LaLonde has been “unofficially” working in this role for a while now.

“In reality, Michael has been serving in a CEO capacity for some time now, as he handles many aspects of strategic planning and daily operations of the company,” said Fish, now the company’s former CEO. “The title president and CEO more accurately describes Michael’s role and his guidance will continue to help us fulfill our goals.”

Fish, will move into a chairman’s role at Deschutes, currently the nation’s 8th largest craft brewery headquartered in Bend, Oregon, with a soon to open East Coast facility based in Roanoke, Virginia.
