Craft Beer And Cookies – Yeah It’s A Thing

, Craft Beer And Cookies – Yeah It’s A Thing

Craft beer and cuisine pairings are quite “the deal” nowadays … cookie and craft beer pairings…not so much. But Flying Dog Brewery has been championing the budding “craft beer and cookie” movement (yep, it’s a movement now) for the last three years – and the winter holidays just around the corner it’s the perfect time to do it.

An iconoclastic brewery in the Mid-Atlantic, Flying Dog is beloved for their beer and their brilliant imaging (Ralph Steadman… or God’s sake!). As well as for doing what they want, when they want. They’re not shy about naming their beers provocatively (Raging Bitch, Pearl Necklace anyone?). Nor do they think that paring options need to stop with the main course.

, Craft Beer And Cookies – Yeah It’s A ThingIn spite of rampant anti-smoking sentiment, Flying Dog chose to release a serious beer and fine cigar collection in 2014 that was conceptually brilliant.

And this year they’re returning to craft beer and cookies just in time for the winter holidays.

Working with Baltimore’s renowned Otterbein’s Cookies, they’ve released the 2016 Flying Dog Holiday Collection – a holiday 12-pack with four unique craft beers specially brewed to pair with a specific Otterbein cookie.

Flying Dog’s 6.5% ABV Raspberry Leaf Ale was brewed raspberries and raspberry leaves – and to pair perfectly with Otterbein’s lemon sugar cookies.

Their 7.6% Christmas IPA (brewed with spice and tangerine) compliments a plate full of Otterbein’s orange white chocolate chip cookies wonderfully.

The 8.4% Baltic Porter (our favorite!) was crafted to go brilliantly with the bakery’s trademark chocolate chip cookies – and they do.

And the brewery’s distinctive 6.8% Horchata Lager (brewed with cinnamon and vanilla beans) only gets better when paired Otterbein’s special sugar cookies.

The Flying Dog Holiday Collection is a true paradigm shifter that has become a beer collector favorite nationwide – and its available now all throughout Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC.

So yes, cookies and craft beer have officially become “a thing” – and Flying Dog’s Holiday Collection, “a thing” worth travelling for – especially at this time of year.
