The latest figures from market insight leader Nielsen, show that cans now make up a quarter of craft beers sold at retail in Great Britain. That’s a mind-blowing 327% from January through August in 2017…so clearly this thing is ON!

Just as in the US Nielsen credits this movement to consumers’ changing attitudes and particularly to millennials who they say are increasingly looking for lightweight packaging (outdoor enthusiasts?) with standout designs (Beavertown?), which can be easily recycled.

Martin Constable, the Chairman of the Can Makers was understandably static about Nielsen’ findings…

 “The growth of the canned craft beer market over the past year has exceeded expectations and has paved the way for other craft drinks’ makers to enter the market. We are beginning to see a trend of adult soft drinks and cocktails looking to achieve similar success.”
