BrewDog broke ground last week, on the world’s first crowdfunded craft beer hotel at the site of its US headquarters in Canal Winchester, Ohio. And as usual, they avoided the obvious cliches in favor of keeping things recklessly punk.

Instead of the token gold shovels and hard hats, BrewDog began construction explosively, by actually blowing an enormous hole in the ground where the hotel will be built.

And to keep things fun, the first US contributor to BrewDog’s hotel-funding campaign, Tara Grove of Canal Winchester, was on hand to push the detonator.

More than 250 of BrewDog’s Equity Punks and Indiegogo hotel backers attended the earth-shaking, groundbreaking. And all celebrated the hotel’s launch with multiple toasts and countless cans of BrewDog’s signature Punk IPA.

BrewDog’s new destination craft beer hotel, appropriately named The DogHouse, will be a state-of-the art affair, or go down trying.

Plans include a craft beer spa, Punk IPA on-tap in every room and the essential in-shower beer fridge.

Guests who stay in the luxury suites will also be provided with their own hot tub full of Punk IPA, and c’mon who doesn’t want that?

Plus DogHouse rooms will allow visitors to look onto BrewDog’s US sour facility, which is also expected to launch next year.

“This is a hotel for punks, by punks. Our Equity Punks and Indiegogo backers went above and beyond with their investments and ideas for The DogHouse, so we wanted to do the same to kick-off construction. We can’t wait to see a sold-out hotel full of craft beer lovers.”

With construction officially underway, The DogHouse is scheduled for completion in summer 2018, safely in advance of BrewDog’s US stakeholder gathering, the concerningly named Annual General Mayhem.
