Fall is ON…and clearly the craft beer biz is only accelerating. But no worries, Rumor Mill is on the case, keeping you plugged in into all the beer news and lifestyle that matters. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately and you don’t want to miss that.
Tree House Brewing Put On Notice For Discharging Contaminates (Charlton, MA) – Local officials put the owners of Tree House Brewing on notice last week, after a town consultant reported unhealthy test results that indicated the 55,000-square-foot brewing company was discharging high levels of metals and other contaminates into the town’s sewer system.
Mission Brewery On A Mission To Raise Funds (San Diego CA) – Mission Brewery is in the process of raising significant capital to double production and build a series of satellite tasting rooms. And they’ve invited their fans to buy shares in the brewery via a We Funder campaign where investors can buy into the company for as little as $200. More importantly, $1000 investors will receive a complimentary round of beers for up to 10 guests on their next visit – so there’s that.
Words To Drink By (Santa Monica, CA) – “You take it on faith…you take it to the heart…the waiting, is the hardest part.” Tom Petty (1950 – 2017)
Modelo And UFC Partner (Las Vegas, NV) – The UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) has announced that they’ve reached a multi-year agreement with Mexico-importer Modelo Especial, to become the official beer and malt beverage (!) for the American mixed martial arts organization.
Anheuser-Busch had held that title since 2008, and their Bud Light logo was ubiquitous at the fights, and frequently stamped the center of the octagon for UFC’s biggest events.
Modelo’s multimillion partnership, which starts in 2018, is for United States events only. The deal will allow for the Modelo’s branding and signage to prominently adorn the UFC cage and for UFC athletes and personalities to be featured in beer advertising.
What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (San Clemente, CA) – Last night we tapped a single-hop classic that Left Coast Brewing is canning for the first time. Brewed with super-premium two row pale malted barley and ridiculous amounts of Galaxy hops, Galaxy Supernova IPA is a 6.5% ABV citrus bomb with a dry and crisp finish.
