The beer biz never sleeps at American Craft Beer. And here’s just some of what’s been happening in the world of craft beer, while you were mindlessly drinking your way through the weekend.

Redhook Brewlab Debuts This Week (Seattle, WA) – Recommitting to its roots and its experimental heritage, Redhook Brewing will be opening their much anticipated new small-batch brewery this week.

Helmed by Head Brewer Nick Crandall, Redhook’s Brewlab, which plans to brew more than 100 different small-batch beers every year, will serve as a testing ground for innovative recipes that may eventually reach a wider audience in Washington State and beyond.

A beer-focused working space and 8-barrel system, built around a striking custom mural by Sub Pop Record’s Grammy-nominated art director Sasha Barr, Brewlab will feature 16 taps of rotating small-batch beers in every conceivable style, and artisan food from Executive Chef Adam Stevens.

Made possible by a Netherlands-based USA Beer Import Program that Governor Terry McAuliffe helped introduce to local brewers, Lickinghole’s first shipment will include HUGE beers like Heir Apparent an 11% Mexican-Spiced Imperial Stout and Coconut Quad, an 11.2% Coconut Belgian-Style Quadrupel Ale, so clearly they intend to make an impression.

Lickinghole Creek will also soon be adding a 50,000 square foot production brewery and a 4,000 square foot tasting room to their existing central Virginia compound, as well as opening a second location in downtown Lynchburg that will be home to an innovative brewing program and sour house.
