Beer Destinations – 3 ‘Must Visit’ Craft Breweries In Orange County

beer, Beer Destinations – 3 ‘Must Visit’ Craft Breweries In Orange CountySouthern California’s Orange County California is known for a lot of things…its 40 miles of scenic beaches all primed for surfing, places like Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm and increasingly for its beer. And here are 3 exciting breweries that you absolutely don’t want to miss, next time you’re cruising SoCal.

The Bruery

The Bruery, a ‘designer’ craft brewery located in Placentia California specializing in barrel aged and experimental ales, pretty much sets the standard of excellence in Orange County.

Founded as a small, friend & family run business back in 2008, The Bruery takes its unique moniker from founder Patrick Rue’s family surname.

Renowned for their Belgian directions and for their inventive hybrid ales like Or Xata, The Bruery did finally give in to what had to be incredible pressure and recently began brewing IPAs under their Offshoot Beer brand.

Pick whatever catches your attention and chances are good that you’ll be blown away, but we suggest that you explore at least one their barrel-aged titles when you visit.

Bruery Terreux

We’re kinda cheating here because Bruery Terreux and The Bruery are siblings…But they’re both essential to visit when you’re doing the Orange County circuit.

Bruery Terreux was the result of The Bruery’s owner Patrick Rue decision to limit the danger of the kinds of cross contamination that can happen when you’re creating wild ales in the same vicinity as your core lineup.

When beers that weren’t supposed to be sour started tasting that way Rue opened a separate facility down the road in Anaheim and Bruery Terreux was born.

Bruery Terreux, which roughly translates from French to “Earthy Bruery” is committed to crafting rustic farmhouse-style wild and sour ales that are inspired old world-techniques and tempered by Rue’s innovative spirit.

Beachwood BBQ and Brewing

Beachwood is rapidly becoming a beer-and-dining empire in Orange County and is one of those rare places where the food is as good as the beer (and vise versa).

What started in their original Brewpub and BBQ has expanded to a number of outlets – a Seal Beach location, a production facility in Huntington Beach (which now has a taproom) and The Blendery Tap Room in Long Beach.

From their whimsically named beers and playful beer styles, to their Southern Californian hipster-noir vibe, any one of their locations is serious drinking at is best in a deliberately unpretentious and laid-back setting.
