Heineken Gets Slammed for “Terribly Racist” Light Beer Ad (Amsterdam) – In the latest example of massive marketing misjudgment, Heineken has pulled a video ad for Heineken Light from all its global markets. And this ad played so poorly that we can’t even find a remnant of the video on the web for you to link to…but trust us this was a major misstep.
Sometimes, “Lighter is Better” was the tagline of the 30-second commercial that according to the New York Post showed a bartender sliding a bottle of Heineken Light past a number of people of color, before it reaches a light-skinned woman. Ouch!
The Heineken Light ad was quickly withdraw after Twitter comments by Chicago-born Chance the Rapper led to a viral meltdown and left many (including us) wondering what in the world they were thinking? We know Heineken is based in Amsterdam, but they must have one ‘person of color’ on staff there that they could have run that ad by…right?

New Creature Comforts Brewery Fully Operational (Athens, GA) – Last year Creature Comforts announced big plans to open a second much larger $11 million brewery not far from their existing downtown hub. And after a year of nonstop passion (and construction) their vision is now fully operational.
Creature Comforts’ New, State-of-the-Art Brewery, is housed in a 40,000-square-foot building at the historic Southern Mill complex in Athens, and it will allow them an annual capacity of 50,000 barrels, plus room to add more fermenters on a “plug and play” basis according to AJC.com.

A perfect spring to summer drinking option, Fresh as Helles a 5.4% ABV light amber, medium-bodied Helles-style Lager that is brewed using Mandarina hops and orange blossom petals.
