Winter beers and IPA’s dominate our first collection of new beers for 2018…And we’ve five craft beer directions that you might want to consider along with this year’s batch of New Year’s resolutions.

Happy New Year Noire (Baltimore, MD) – Heavy Seas Beer has announced their first Uncharted Waters Series release for 2018. Brewed with almost three pounds of coco imported from Belgium and wood-aged with vanilla beans, Heavy Seas Siren Noire is a velvety rich 9.5% ABV Imperial Chocolate Stout that’s been aged in specially curated bourbon barrels.

Terrapin Springs Eternal (Athens, GA) – Leave it to Terrapin Beer to announce 2018’s first spring seasonal on December 28th.  Lush with tropical fruit and pineapple flavors, (the result of Galaxy hops) Terrapin Beyond the Galaxy is a 6.3% ABV single hopped India Pale Ale that’s deep gold in color with a soft, juicy bitterness.

Get Smashed! (Rochester, NY) – Genesee Brew House has a new Pilot Batch Series release that’s crafted with singles in mind. Brewed matching a single-malt with a single-hop, SIMCOE S.M.A.S.H Pale Ale is a drinkable 5.5% ABV ode to the aromatic Simcoe hop that was first introduced in 2000 and has gone on to become a staple!beer, Beer Alert – New India Pale Ales, Imperial Stouts And Winter Seasonals!

Coastal Coronation (San Diego, CA) – Coronado Brewing has a new Knoxville Series release that pays homage to the street on which Coronado’s flagship brewery is located.  Crafted using British yeast to accentuate the ale’s hop fruitiness, Coronado North Island IPA is a 7.5 % ABV New England-Style IPA that was double dry-hopped to the edge of insanity, with a blend of Citra, Centennial and Azacca hops.

Brown Nose (Petaluma, CA) – Lagunitas has returned a popular limited release that was the result of a failed attempt to brew a Barleywine back in 1997 and went on to become a classic. Pumped to dangerously high ABV levels by huge additions of brown cane sugar, Lagunitas Brown Shugga’ is a 9.7% ABV “something” that’s perfect as the temperatures plummet.
